One of the Fastest Growing NC Towns

The City of Mebane is located mostly in Alamance County and a small part is located in Orange County.  It was incorporated as Mebanesville in 1881 and changed to Mebane in 1883.  Mebane’s growth began with the establishment of the White Furniture Company in 1881.  The population of Mebane is 14,973.  Mebane is one of the fastest growing cities in our area.  Located on I85/40 and between the Greensboro and RDU airports, it is also conveniently located to UNC, Duke and RTP.  Lake Michael is located in Mebane – a recreational park with a lake.  The Tanger Outlet Mall is a new addition to the area.

The Efland area is a small unincorporated area located between Hillsborough and Mebane known for its farmland and small post office and Ruritan Club.
